The goal of the counseling and guidance program is to develop the academic, personal/social and career skills of students by providing a comprehensive guidance curriculum while working collaboratively with staff, parents, and the community.
The Guidance curriculum will be implemented through monthly guidance classes. Guidance covers a myriad of different topics relative to children's development. Topics will also be specific to individual classrooms. Some guidance topics include:
- Friendship
- Bullying
- Self Esteem
- Peer Pressure
- Cultural Diversity
- Drug Awareness
- Career Awareness
- Character Education

Small Group Counseling
Small group counseling is available to all students. Each group will be composed of 6-8 students. The topics will be determined based on the needs of the students. Students are recommended for a particular group by staff members and parents.
Academics
Counselors provide assistance in the development of student's academic success.
- Monitor student progress and work with students who are at risk of failing.
- Provide classroom lessons that develop proper academic study and test-taking skills.
- Work with staff to develop curriculum that is aligned with the district and state standards.
