PARENT-SCHOOL COMPACT

The Parent-School Compact is an agreement of promise that has been developed jointly with parents, community stakeholders, and with the commitment of school faculty and students to provide a learning environment in which all children can develop to their academic potential. The compact will be reviewed at conferences, PTO/ PTA/ PTSO group meetings, and at professional development workshops.

AS A CHARLOTTE PARK PARENT/GUARDIAN, I WILL:

_____ See that my child attends school daily.

_____ Communicate with my child’s teacher by attending conferences and reviewing student progress reports.

_____ Read to my child or with my child everyday and help with homework assignments.

_____ Support my child and MNPS at after school events. (programs & parent informational meetings).

_____ Read the school discipline plan and take responsibility for my child’s behavior.

_____ Provide input at the school and attend a minimum of two school events each nine weeks.

_____ Communicate with my child about his/her school activities and lessons every day.

_____ Communicate with the school when any changes occur in address, phone numbers, etc.

_____ Volunteer in my child’s classroom and school.

_____ Serve on committees. (Leadership Teams, SIP committee, and PTO/PTA etc.).

AS A CHARLOTTE PARK STUDENT, I WILL:

_____ Behave in a safe and respectful manner, so that all students can learn by obeying school, classroom, and bus rules.

_____ Be a good citizen by doing what is right and show respect to all adults and peers.

_____ Discuss school activities, my goals and lessons with my parents everyday so that I can learn and be successful.

_____ Arrive at school on time so that I may be present and prepared for all classes.

_____ Do my best in my class work and homework and turn in all assignments on time.

_____ Take pride in my school and realize that I am responsible and accountable for my actions and behavior daily while at school and at school functions.

_____ Communicate assessment results to parents to recognize the student's strengths and weaknesses.

_____ Provide resources and professional development opportunities for parents to work with their child.

_____ Offer access for parents to observe and participate in the classroom.

_____ Provide reasonable access to parents for consultation.
